A Journal

"I'm going to come back to West Virginia when this is over. There's something ancient and deeply-rooted in my soul. I like to think that I have left my ghost up one of those hollows, and I'll never really be able to leave for good until I find it. And I don't want to look for it, because I might find it and have to leave".----Breece D'J Pancake, in a letter to his mother.

Olivia Dabich

It begins with a boom

A dainty delicate day
A cool clear careening
Later, we freak to the night

A baby-born-blue talk fast vernacular
Smooth it to the jazz
Cut clean

Randy's gone all red
Stuck in the sultry of the song
A Pill-pilfering pandemic

Paranoia is the new panacea
Get it while it's hot
A gin jabbering speakeasy

A fluttering furtive fuck-fest
Mr. Suicide Clyde
Wants to pop my cherry

Say it ain’t so
Charlie the railroad-boned skeleton says it’s so
Twenty dollars, let's go

To Hades’ hungry howling Hells
Here we cut our veins
Fill the gullies with gold and gasoline

Here we gouge out our eyes
Feed the futile jelly to the dancing dogs
Dip our forefingers into the fire for fortune

Drinking and jiving
To the beat
Gone bad

A nameless numb night
A sightless slumbering September
We fall into the frost

My favorite souvenir is a small turquoise colored stone that has "breathe" written on it in gold cursive letters. I received this souvenir from a mindfulness course instructor this past summer. One day when I travels,I will pass this stone on to another kindred soul.

Olivia Dabich lives in the suburbs though she often tells people she lives in D.C. Her favorite ice-cream flavor is Cherry Garcia and if she was a character from a book, she would be Clarisse McClellan from Fahrenheit 451. Olivia often fantasizes about fleeing to the Peruvian mountains where she will herd alpacas and write poetry. She feels she sometimes stares too long.
